Cesta carefully picks a few items off both sets of plates and sits beside Illiana. He takes a couple of breaths and utters a few words over the food. He looks up at Will, and pops a fork full of rice in his mouth. She saved my life? That would make sense. Honestly I thought it was you, but you smelled like a girl. Honestly it was all a blur, filled with pain, and I think some screaming."
He looked back and forth between the two "My story is fairly simple. As the Altharin war failed, we began to rely more and more on cloned babies. We couldn't maintain numbers, especially since every single Altharin was needed to fight, no time for birthing or raising those babies. By the end of it most babies were birthed in artificial wombs, and raised by some of the walkers, wraith guard and slaves. This also served a purpose to modify each succeeding generation to the needs of each craftworld. The threat of the Warp increased and it was believed the use of magic or psionic powers was making it worse for us."Cesta pauses "This resulted in only naturally born of my people were capable of magic beyond the most simplest of knacks, and this meant mostly the nobility. It is different for the nobility. They are mostly raised naturally, and they are the only class of Altharin allowed to keep their full magical ability. My family were nobility on my original craftworld. However in one of the endless craftworld wars, my craftworld was taken over and my family put in chains. They made my family breed true, studded by whoever they decide should father or mother the next generation of slaves."There is a hardness about Cesta's eyes. "My people like to keep the cruelty fresh, even over hundreds and thousands of years. I was born to a slave family, they found my abilities pleasing in magic. However, they do not trust us enough to practice the magic, or to study for anything that isn't exactly what they want. They don't want to put us to waste, so they really enjoy having us do other jobs, such as personal chef. This of course doesn't count having us ensure further generations of magic users are born and using us to procreate either more slaves, or occasionally a noble who's magic is waning in their family line. In any case even with the cruelty of my people they wouldn't allow most other races to command us, even if we were slaves. This meant I was usually in charge of the slaves around me. I think I have only met two non-Altharins who would hold a higher rank then me, and one of them is down the hall practicing unlocking. She is still entranced by how the universe is different, and honestly so am I.
If you have any questions, I am more than happy to answer."Cesta turns his face to the other two, waiting. CESTA

Will looks surprised, and says, " That was far more tragedy than I was expecting. I guess long lived races carry cruelty to chaotic-like extremes. I'm sorry."

Cesta smiles at both of his comrades. "Please, don't be sorry. I didn't say that to make you feel bad. To be perfectly honest I was pampered compared to most. I suspect Ezelle went through a far harsher treatment then I did. Even with the cruelty of Altharin on Altharin violence, the way my people treat other races is ten times worse."
He takes another bite of his food, and looks at Illiana. "You still have bloodlust, and you shouldn't let it stop you. The only way to control it is to accept it. My understanding is the Mishar have always had it, but I think we might be able to find a way to help you at least buffer against it, if not remove it completely"Cesta pauses and turns to Will. "I am still positive that your people do not come by bloodlust naturally. It could be a warp influence, but generally that bloodlust will leave a warp touch at least on your aura, if not in person. You have none of that, and neither does your daughter. Your daughter is extremely tough for being a gave child. Stronger, faster and more well adjusted then others. She will be a beautiful and strong woman. I hope you won't hold it against her if she doesn't shift. I don't think its going to happen."A studied look crosses his face as he continues to address Will. "Has anyone ever told you that she is magically capable. I am not talking the normal beastman knacks, I am talking laying fire across a city and then healing the people she likes. It may come out as a shaman aspected power, but I wouldn't hold my breath that it will be anything less then a full on magical caster. She may even focus some of that magic on fighting with how you two train."CESTA

Illiana puts her plate aside for the moment and leans forward toward Will. "I hope Im not over stepping by asking but could you define 'gave child' for me?"

Will nods to Cesta, and then looks at Illiana, "A gave child is a loose definition. Sometimes women that are not Beastmen, take lovers, and get pregnant. A half Beastman child might as well be a full Beastman, because they hear the dreams, and know our people. They often look like the mother's race, and sometimes they shift at puberty. Sometimes they never shift. I think they are called gave children, because either they are considered a gift to chaos bent women wanting a Beastman child, or women that aren't equipped to raise a Beastman child, often leave them in the forests for us, so the children come back to our people."
He then looks at Cesta, "I have suspected she was shamanic inclined for a while. She is capable of navigating the deep dreams with ease that I can't. Shamans talk to her in the dreams. I haven't had her checked for it yet, because she's still a bit young. This might also shock you, but not all of Beastmen shamans are hedge wizards. Some are incredibly educated in the arts. If she has that kind of aptitude, I'll have to find someone to apprentice her to. My brother is a shaman of some power, and I keep hoping we'll have downtime to see him in the next year or so when she needs it." Will smiles as he talks about his daughter.
"She was raised a bit atypically for her people. I have given her every advantage I can because she might never physically change, and that will make it harder for her. She has good blood. When she reaches adulthood, I hope to have given her the tools she needs to navigate our reality, which is very dangerous for Beastmen with Chaos on one side, and other races and corporations on the other," Will explains.
His ears flick towards Illiana, and he says, "I have some hornweed. It's helped me with my bloodlust. You can always try it and see if it helps with yours."

Illiana picks her plate back up absently and begins to eat as she listens, nodding. Her nod turns more vigorous as Will mentions the weed. "Im game." She smiles broadly.

The door opens open and a young female steps in. Her small horns sticking through her blonde hair. Trouble turns to her father, gives him a huge smile. A smile of a daughter who wants something desperately from her father. As she beams at him, she gives a wink to Illiana and Cesta, she creeps closer to the food. "I am feeling faint dad..."

Will's ears flick forward, and he cocks an eyebrow, and says, "Faint, huh? Is that something getting a plate of food will help?"

Her face continues to beam and her smile seems to engulf her whole face as she nods quickly. "I think so dad, I think my blood salts are not high enough."As she says this she expertly slides her way to the rest of the food and daintily starts dishing a plate up.

Will looks at the girl for a moment, and says, "I think you should eat, and then I think I should consider looking at your biology class settings."

Illiana raises a skeptical eyebrow, watching the exchange between father and daughter. "If thats the case then I obviously dont produce my own blood salts." She smiles cheerfully at the young girl.

Trouble looks confused at the humor. She gives her dad a serious look and talks slowly to him as if explaining to a child. "I am sure it's blood salt."She then goes into a detailed explanation of power points on the body, warp connections and blood salts. Will recognizes it as the way shamans used to teach other beast men a very very long time ago (more than centuries). Some of the older warriors use these references as jokes nowadays to poke fun at how primitive thinking they used to be before modern "science".

Will nods, and says, "That might be the old way of looking at it. I think we still need to give you a proper modern biology lesson plan. The old ways have merit, but science needs to be incorporated as well. Your dream friends might not like it, but time has moved on since they told their stories. You can decided for yourself after your education is completed."
Will then nonchalantly asks Trouble, "Have your dream friends started to teach you how to cast yet spells or conjure yet?"

Cesta quietly watches the interaction between father and daughter. Not wanting to interrupt the interaction he begins sketching in a small book he has in his hands. CESTA
Trouble is quiet for longer then expected. Her face betrays her concentration as she attempts to remember. "I always have a hard time remembering when I am awake. Sometimes I do though. Some voices try to tell me how to do things. I don't like the ones that involve blood or hurting things, they try and tell me how to call, but that scares me and I don't like it. Sometimes they get too loud, and they yell at me or demand me to do things, but I just ignore them."She then gets quieter, and she starts tapping her left wrist with her right index finger. "I don't listen to most of those that try and teach me. There is old Gran, but she says I am not ready yet. I need to learn to make water before I can do anything else. She also says I should learn to talk to the spirits around us, before I try and call them. She told me some people would want to chain me if they knew she talked to me. You aren't mad she talks to me dad are you?
I don't want you to send me away."Trouble's concern is apparent.
